For centuries, the whereabouts of one of Egypt's most famous – and controversial – leaders remained a mystery. Then, in 1898, hidden in a small chamber behind a secret wall in a tomb in the Valley of Kings, three anonymous, seemingly ordinary mummies were found – and soon forgotten. For a hundred years, they laid there in the dark, neglected and unexamined. Watch as Dr. Joann Fletcher returns to that hidden chamber to prove that one of the mummies – referred to as "younger woman" – is Nefertiti.

In profile, the mummy's face unmistakably resembles that of a famous Nefertiti bust – carved during her lifetime – that rests in a museum in Berlin. Another clue is the way the fingers of her right hand are curled – as if she was grasping a royal scepter at the time of her burial. Cursory examination of the mummy reveals shocking post-mortem damage – her chest cavity has been smashed, her arm broken off and her jawbone crushed. This could be the handiwork of grave robbers or – as Dr. Fletcher suggests – the work of the queen's own vengeful subjects. But, the damage doesn't prevent Dr. Fletcher's team from accurately reconstructing Nefertiti's face – revealing on camera for the first time one of history's most legendary beauties.
