Get an intimate look at parents-to-be in the weeks and months leading up to the birth of their child including the magic of delivery.
Through heartbreak, snoring and blood-banking, one couple faces challenges together. Married for ten years, Maty and Tony didn't plan on having children until a few years ago when Maty's maternal instinct began to kick in. Last spring she became pregnant but sadly, miscarried after seven weeks. Heartbroken, the two tried again and fortunately were able to get pregnant.
Now into their sixth month, they are feeling pretty secure and excited. Maty, who knows she's having a boy, claims the child is giving her masculine traits – she now snores in her sleep and has been having a belching problem!
Maty is planning for her child's future by getting involved with the Cord Blood Registry, which removes blood from the umbilical cord and cryogenically freezes it for future use. This unique service provides blood for a transfusion should the child or family member become ill at some point. Hispanics and African-Americans have the lowest percentage of blood and bone marrow donors, so Maty definitely wants to bank on her baby's future.
